Did Death Battle get it right or wrong?: Carnage vs Lucy

This is a series of blogs where I look at somewhat controversial episodes of Death Battle, to see if it's right or not. Today is Carnage vs Lucy. Last time was Rogue vs Wonder Woman Check it out here I guess.

Background

Carnage

Carnage was once a serial killer known as Cletus Kasady, and became Carnage after merging with the offspring of the alien symbiote called Venom during a prison breakout. The symbiote amplified his psychotic nature making him even less mentally stable than he had been previously, and therefore even more dangerous. An interesting note is that, unlike Venom, Carnage is a singular entity, referring to himself as "I" instead of "We", because the symbiote has actually merged into Kasady's bloodstream. Carnage is also the "father" of Toxin. A note on his childhood: Cletus' father killed his wife (Cletus' mother) because she tried to kill Cletus. Cletus then testified in court against him, saying that he killed her for no reason, causing him to die by electric chair as means of punishment. It is also unclear on Cletus' relationship with his mother, as he seems to have feelings for her, causing him to dig up her grave at the end of his massacre through New York. He also revealed that he killed his grandmother when he was younger, pushing her down a flight of stairs. Since the alien symbiote adapts to the host's personality, the Carnage symbiote is affected by Kasady's insane mind and lust for destruction.

Kasady has been separated and re-attached to the symbiote multiple times. The Carnage symbiote has occasionally attached itself to other hosts, including the Silver Surfer, Ben Reilly (a clone of Spider-Man), and Doctor Octopus. Venom later decided to absorb the Carnage symbiote "for good", during which Kasady retained the Carnage persona by costuming himself in red paint and continuing his killing sprees (albeit as a powerless human). This was short lived, however, as Kasady coincidentally found an exact replica of the symbiote in the Negative Zone. As to whether or not the symbiote is a separate entity, "permanently" bonded, or his own blood mutated, has not been revealed. The symbiote once chose to leave Kasady and bond with Ben Reilly. Kasady, without the symbiote, rapidly aged and his body quickly deteriorated. In this state, Kasady was barely able to function, having a hard time operating a sink, let alone being a threat. The symbiote bonded with him again in time to save his life, regenerating his health. When the symbiote abandoned him yet again, this time to join with the Silver Surfer(transforming him into the Carnage Cosmic), Kasady was left dying from an accelerated form of stomach cancer (apparently a side-effect of the symbiosis, also suffered by Eddie Brock, the original Venom). However, when Venom ate the symbiote, he did not deteriorate, indicating that perhaps some fragments of the symbiote were left behind (enough to sustain him but not enough to form the costume). This may be backed up by the fact that Kasady seemed to retain at least some enhanced strength.

Later, Venom and Spider-Man had to team up to stop Carnage. During this time it was revealed that the symbiote had become a part of Kasady's blood and was irremovable from him. Kasady only needed to be cut for the symbiote to flood out to become Carnage once again. Unlike Venom, Carnage had become less vulnerable to the high-pitched sounds which would normally stop Venom, however he was still vulnerable to intense heat.

Lucy

Kaede (楓), also known as Lucy (ルーシー, Rūshi) and Nyu (にゅう, Nyū), is a diclonius girl and the main protagonist of the series.

She is assumed to be fifteen but never explicitly stated (eighteen in the anime).Lucy has vectors with a limited range of about two meters (6.56168 ft). However, she can be swift and lethal within that range, and will use any nearby objects as high-velocity projectiles to kill at greater distances. She is also capable of stopping or deflecting most standard ammunition when she concentrates on the task.

Lucy hates humans mainly because of how she was alienated by her human peers as a child, several of whom she eventually killed after they captured a puppy which Lucy had been caring for and beat it to death in front of her; which led to her blowing up their bodies out of revenge. Consequently, she discounts non-diclonii, claiming they are not real people, to the point of telling Nana that she has "not killed one of her own yet". She seems to lack empathy and kills without much concern as a usual first reaction, often killing on reflex or simply because she can. She is incredibly sadistic, severing limbs and blinding foes, leaving them to bleed to death rather than killing them outright. Despite this lack of concern for human life she will not harm Kouta, and cries and apologizes for killing his family in a fit of jealousy; she loves Kouta, but due to her actions in the past, she believes he will be content without her existence. As such, she refrains from killing in his presence, except at the series' end, when she kills an entire Special Assault Team unit in front of him. However, Lucy still is not above acts of jealousy, once using her vectors to shove Yuka when she saw her holding hands with Kouta.

Nyu
Nyu (にゅう, Nyū) is a split personality of Lucy that developed after a .50 BMG round pierces the metallic helmet encasing her head when she escaped. Nyu has a childlike personality and infantile knowledge of the world, and lacks spoken language skills, being able to say only "nyū" and "Kouta" most of the time. As the series progresses she develops a wider vocabulary; by the halfway point she is able to speak perfectly normal. Nyu is innocent and incapable of violent acts, a foil to the normally cold and sadistic Lucy; she is the manifestation of her "good side". When Nyu is attacked violently (or hit on the head), she regresses into Lucy; likewise, when Lucy is treated with love and kindness, or wants to hide herself from Kouta, she will change back into Nyu. While Nyu exists first due to trauma, Lucy subconsciously encourages her presence due to her feelings of guilt towards Kouta and to prevent her from harming him (directly or indirectly).

ABILITIES

Carnage
• Shape shifting: Carnage can shift his body just like Venom. Carnage can shift his body into wingsor shoot web'ssharp claw'sMake his hands turn into an Axeform spikes from his body, and unlike Venom He can throw them like projectiles.

•360 Vision: The Symbiote allows Carnage to have a 360 vision, making it that so that he sense danger approaching him at all angles. Basically like the Spider sense.

•Healing factor: Carnage can heal from most things, like getting his head cut offgetting his head blown up. The only way to kill Carnage is to totally annihilate him.

Lucy
Diclonius Physiology
A Diclonius head has A bony protrusions that resemble cat ears, but are in fact a mix of bone and cartilage, possibly the result of an extremely enlarged pineal gland in their frontal lobes. These vectors have the ability to manipulate objects and are precise enough to have cutting power, and can be very destructive when unleashed. They are perhaps telekinetic in nature, and can seemingly break bonds at the molecular level.

Diclonii have the ability to detect one another, such as when Kurama released Nana from the offshore laboratory to search for and retrieve Lucy. Even this ability had limits, as she could not sense her target when she was in her childlike Nyu persona, nor could she sense the Mariko clones (Alicia, Barbara, Cynthia, and Diana) when they were under the control restraints set up by Nousou and the Agent riding herd on them during their assault on Maple House.

Diclonius all heal very quickly and do not scar easily. Diclonius are extremely intelligent, however they are just as emotional as Humans, often more so. Once pushed to the brink, some hear a voice that claims to be the directing voice of their own DNA, urging them to kill as many Humans as possible.

Vectors
These are invisible and intangible arms which sprout from the back. These Vectors act as extra limbs for the Diclonius, and are apart of their body. The vectors attack/heal at an atomic level. Meaning that they destory/heal atoms. It's even compared to Nuclear fusion.

Normally A Diclonius can use 14 Vectors at A time,  Lucy can use over 20 when she's trying.

The Vectors can vibrate at variable speeds to perform different tasks. At lower speeds, the arms are rendered intangible, These speeds can be changed on the fly, allowing Lucy for example to render her Vectors intangible, phase through a target and speed up to rip out vital internal organs. Lucy uses this to rip out a dude's heartThe Vectors also allow you to float

Barriers
When Lucy needs to be defensive, she can shield herself with her barriers. Able to defend against missiles.

Diclonius Virus

The Vectors also contain a mysterious virus that spreads to any human male.  infected, their genetic code is rewritten such that any offspring they father will always be a Diclonius, regardless of whichever woman they end up impregnating.

Power

Carnage
•Blocks Venom's hand (As shown above)
•Stronger than Ironfist, who fought evenly with Radion, who had the power of hundreds of Megatons
•Stronger than Jack o Lantern, who damaged these drones heavily. Those same drones were able to shrug off 50 Megatons of TNT

Speed

Durability
•Survives getting ripped in half by Sentry (as shown above) Although he did need prosthetic legs afterwards.

Speed

Durability
Note: "Lucy melting at the end of the series proves that her vectors exert energy back onto her, and aside from the very end when the vectors grow to continent-sized, she can handle that backlash without injury, and even when she was melting, she held out for a while before dying. The vectors are also connected to her body, meaning that whenever she detonates them (like when she punched through that island), she's essentially at the epicenter of the explosion.Due to Entropy, equivalent heat energy to that of her powers is being exerted into her."
-Migue79
So Lucy scales to her Vectors, Check out These docs here. Full credit to goes Migue79 for the docs btw. I know Lucy's durability section is WAY different than what I normally do, but hey wanted to try something new this time.

Weaknesses
Carnage
Like any symbiote Carnage's biggest weakness is Sound and heat, Though Carnage is no longer weak to sound he is still weak to heat however. Another weakness of Carnage is him being careless, meaning any careful opponent could pull a fast one on Carnage.

Lucy
If Lucy uses her maximum power for to long she starts to melt, also if A Diclonius horn get's cut off they die. though it's shown that Lucy doesn't really have this weakness.

THE VERDICT
Verdict time baby

So, it was pretty clear Lucy had the Strength edge. Carnage could scale to city busting while Lucy scaled to Island-country and potentially Plantery, which we'll talk about later.

For speed, while Carnage was faster, the speed gap was really small. Since Lucy had potentially FTL scaling just like Carnage, and with Lucy's 28 vectors Carnage couldn't dodge her for long.

For Durability, while Carnage's gene bomb feat did seem impressive. Carnage didn't really tank it, in fact it's stated he didn't actually stop it this can't really be a durability feat for Carnage if it overcame his durability, besides the Gene bomb was more like a biological bomb anyway. While the Gene bomb is stated to make humans go extinct.Biological weapons can also cause extinction which proves even more, that the Gene bomb was just a biological weapon. Even if Carnage's gene bomb feat was legit. Remember when Lucy said she would destory earth? Well she wasn't bluffing.

Lucy spreading her Vectors in outer space was 60 Zettatons and over 300 Zettatons at the max so when Lucy said she could Destory the planet she wasn't fucking around, so even if the gene bomb was legit Lucy would still have the power needed to disintegrate Carnage. There's also the fact that Lucy's vectors are compared to Nuclear fusion if you don't know how impressive that is well. Nuclear fusion is 100 Million Kelvin(page 3) 6x times hotter than the Sun's core. There was really no way Carnage would survive something that hot, especially since heat was Carnage's biggest weakness, even if Lucy's attack was only A fraction of A nuclear fusion, it would still be way too much for Carnage. That's not even considering that Lucy's vectors being able to negate Durability like phasing a guy's heart of his body so even if Lucy couldn't kill Carnage by brute force. There's nothing stopping her from snatching his heart out of his body or grabbing his organs and crushing them. Also Carnage couldn't really Survive an attack that destory's your atoms, which is basically what Lucy does.

"Couldn't Carnage break Lucy's horns"
Well possiblity, but that doesn't kill Lucy in fact it actually makes her stronger so that would just fuck up Carnage in the long run.

"Couldn't Carnage possess her"
Possibly. Though Lucy was able to break out the DNA'S voice possession multiple times, for example Lucy stopped the DNA'S voice from killing Kouta. Let's not forget that Carnage was amped in Carnage USA that's how he was able to infect someone like Wolervine. Even then Captain America was able to resist it's also how his tendrils were able to reach across a whole town. Normally his tendrils don't go that far.

"Couldn't he just go invisible?"
Yes, but Lucy could always just put up her barriers besides not like Carnage really used invisibility anyways.

"Couldn't Carnage just cut the vectors"
No since there way to durable, and Lucy can always just grow them back. Like the time Lucy's vectors got erased from existence basically and yet the Vectors came back. Carnage has no way of dealing with that.

"But Dark Carnage tho!!!"
He lost that buff sadly.

So while Carnage was a tuff opponent he wasn't Invincible. In short Lucy had the power, nuclear fusion and overwhelming  presence to win this boubt. I can't believe I used to think Carnage stomped lol.

THE WINNER IS LUCY

Ratio so far
Right: 7
Wrong:2
